STONES THROW X FOOLS GOLD ARE AT IT AGAIN!
In the wake of their Coachella afterparty at Ace Hotel featuring Peanut Butter Wolf, The Brothers Macklovitch, Jokers Of The Scene, Chris Bag Raiders and Aloe Blacc, Stones Throw and Fool's Gold are deciding to extend the party with a mini tour.
The ad advertises a evening of disco boogie and house music and is sure to be a good time with the likes of A-Trak, Peanut Butter Wolf, Treasure Fingers, Mayer Hawthorne (!!) and J-Rocc on the ones and twos.
Unfortunately, I've made prior arrangements. Too bad for me because this mini-tour just screams "spontaneous and ill planned weekend trip." Till next time.

my feelings for you have always been free. tell me, can't you feel it?
I should be careful what I say here in order to prevent myself eating my own words one day.
I know no man is perfect, I know no woman is perfect and I know any union, no matter how strong the bond, has the possibly to collapse in on itself like a dying star.. I can never say that he won't hurt me, and I can't promise that we'll be with each other forever, but I can say without a doubt in my mind, that as long as we're together, that we will keep each other happy, offer unending and unfaltering support for one another, trust each other to no avail, and I can promise you, no matter what happens, that I will love him forever. It may no longer be puppy love, but it's real, and it's strong. I can feel it everyday..
Happy 18 b. Here's to 18 more and 18 more and 18 more...

xoxo, babe.

Inspiration of the day.
This short film is worth 7 minutes of your time. Created by blu, it is composed entirely of murals on outdoor and indoor walls in Buenos Aires and Baden.

My very first trip to the land of the Daisies was the summer of 2008. I was newly single, so carefree and so free-spirited. So young and eager to experience things I've never previously had the pleasure of experiencing. I distinctly remember walking down one of the corridors of the coliseum, headed towards the floor. In me was a mixture excitement and anticipation, all culminating into the form of butterflies circling full speed in my stomach. All I remember was hearing the distant cheering at the mouth of the corridor. As I approached the opening I caught a glimpse of one of the most remarkable sights I've ever seen.
Thousands among thousands of people, all moving together in harmony. It was simple yet so beautiful, so breathtaking I didn't want to leave.
This is the Electric Daisy Carnival I remember. The one I came to love and the one that gave me chills and flashbacks of youthful zeal and close friends whenever someone uttered the acronym "EDC." It was about love, friendship, and good times with vibrant people centered around MUSIC.
But now, I just don't know anymore. I'm sure everyone has heard of Sasha Rodriguez, the 15 year old girl who OD'ed at EDC this year. And I'm sure everyone has seen this video by now:

Obviously, it's not what it used to be anymore. With the momentum of popularity that raves are receiving comes waves of increased media coverage. When you get stories like this, it's easy for the public to have a one-sided view of an already controversial issue. Seeing shit like this goes down pisses me off to no avail because this type of coverage is a threat to my beloved music events and puts a damper on a scene that already has a horrible reputation. I will not rest if they ban EDC, an event that has brought over 150 artists and DJ's from around the world into my reach.
If you're wondering why they haven't already shut down EDC (due to blatant drug use) it's because the city profits from the taxes they impose on the revenues gained form the event. Yup, that's why your water costs $3 per bottle.
I'm sick of this. I'm sick of the bad vibeage I get from people when i tell them I go to raves. I'm sick of seeing 12 year olds running around in skimpy clothing (only cause they're skinnier then me - ha, joke joke sarcasm). I'm sick of people trying to rush the stage and hurting themselves and others. Insomniac and other promoters need to step up and impose a 21+ age requirement on raves. It won't solve all the problems but at least it will get the city off our ass and we'll get to have our music haven for at least another year.

shine, shine
I have to give a special shout out to my love, Shaun P. Who first brought me to the place that inspired my new love, who bought me the tools for my new craft and continues to feed and support my new found passion. I love that we have each other for love, for growth, for a lending ear at the end of a strenuous day. I love that we are more than a relationship, we are a bond, a friendship. And I love that we're finding new ways to grow up individually without growing apart. You are so important to me bby. Here's to us, cheers to forever!

ill show you how i cook up summer in the winter
Some photo spam:

June has been a good month. When school ended I was hesitant to believe that I would knock out half the things I wanted to do during this sweet and sticky summer. At the very least, I was hesitant to believe that I would finish everything I wanted to do by the time I forced myself to sacrifice my life to school. A short six weeks later, I believe that I've made the best I could of my short rendevous from learning. Two Vegas trips, my sisters graduation, EDC, several trips to Dim Mak (that's Japanese for alcohol poisoning), and countless stress-free days with irreplaceable life partners has got me feeling refreshed. School! Bring it!
While we're on the subject of school, I'm thinking about changing my major.. again. While I do have a passion for marine life and biology (and for all of my other former majors) I'm coming around to photo journalism more and more each day. The ability to convey an idea or event to someone who would otherwise have no access to it intrigues me. I'm confident in my ability to write professionally and with clarity so I feel as if my writing could benefit the world. All my life I've been disgusted by the media and what they choose to present to the public or how they convey a situation. It seems as if writers have forgotten their responsibility as journalists to present news in a truthful manner. I just want to open people's eyes to other parts of the world, other cultures, different events, and hopefully allow them to gain a new perspective or inspire them to create change. I don't need to be well paid. I don't need to sleep. What I'm realizing from these multiple major changes is that I need to find a major that I can commit to. Something I can wake up and look forward to doing. That's what will keep me going. It's the only way I'll be able to peacefully rest my head on my pillow every night.
