Take a good goooooood look at the images above. Pretty interesting photography, right? Wrong! These
paintings are part of a series by Gregory Thielker entitled
Under The Unminding Sky. The set is part of a genre called photorealism, where the artists render paintings that are meant to look photographic. There's been a lot of controversy on whether or not you can really call this art. Although technically perfect, many critics say that for something to be considered a work of art, it must evoke feeling or make a statement. They argue that rendering paintings to look like reality makes no statement and takes little metaphysical thinking. What do you think?
